One of my fun things to do this season has been coming up with good SF-looking seasonal beverages. So far my favorite one has been a spicy thing you can add to coffee, tea or hot cider to make *everything* more interesting. I've been calling it Solar Flare, and if you make it you will see why:
1/2 bottle Fireball
1/2 bottle Portland Potato vodka (or other vodka from actual potatoes, just because)
5 drops Boyajian Orange Oil (oh yeah, the fancy stuff)
1/8 tsp Super Pearl Luster Dust (a pearly form of edible glitter)
*shake the bottle before serving!!!* (like having your own alcoholic lava lamp)
You will notice that it is golden and swirls with mystery like the convective surface of the hydrogen fusion reactor we call "The Sun." It also tastes wonderful, cinnamon-orangey, and will spice up any clear beverage you put it into, and give it mysterious swirly pearlescent depths hitherto unknown to any but the most serious students of SF drinkdom.
I posted this recipe on LiveJournal on a friend's page, because he has been getting creative with edible glitter, and this, well, it is that. Potable glitter.
